Spooning In

Last night Braylon tried Rice cereal for the first time. Initially, we wanted to wait until he was six months to give him food other than formula, but the pediatrician told us that if he seems to be really interested in watching us eat and pays close attention to the fork or spoon going into our mouths then he might be ready to try himself. He has showed some interest on several different occasions so we thought we'd give it a try last night. We were sure to try it after he'd already had his normal six ounces, but he still seemed to be a bit hungry so it seemed like the perfect opportunity.

He did NOT appreciate it one bit!!!

I tried several times to show him that it was the food he so desperately wanted, but he did not care. If it wasn't coming from a nipple, he wanted nothing to do with it and screamed at us until we finally put it in a bottle. As soon as the nipple hit his mouth he hungrily attacked and gulped it down within minutes.

He had such a ravenous appetite last night. We had to give him even more after the two ounces that had the cereal mixed in. In total, he had 11 ounces before he finally calmed down! Such the little chunkster!

Needless to say, we will be waiting another month or so before trying the spoon again.
