A Weekend Away

Last weekend, John and I left Braylon for an entire weekend. He stayed with Grandma Mel and Grandpa Bob Friday night and with Grandma Lois Saturday night. We went to Rock Jam in Grand Junction with my parents, brothers -including Jeff, our cousin Tierra, and friends - Brittany, Ann, Durand. It was a blast. I think the favorites were Kid Rock, Poison, and Joan Jett. There were 5 other bands too. We missed our little guy, but it was nice to be baby free for a little while and really let loose. We had a great time.

Grandma Mel told me all about Braylon's stay with her and grandpa. They had a dinner party that night with family still in town for the wedding. Braylon was the hit of the party. As soon as Uncle Brandon heard he was going to be there, he showed up an hour early for extra baby time. :)

Grandma Mel says, "I realize I may be a bit biased - but he is one of the happiest babies I've ever seen... He loves to socialize and flirt and has a big grin and a laugh for everyone...".

He was very intrigued by grandma's cats, they all checked him out (from a distance) except Wilson who jumped into his bed to get a closer look (for about 2 seconds) the minute Braylon started talking to him Wilson left and didn't return to the bedroom until the crib was gone.

In the morning, Braylon and Grandpa had some one on one time while grandma slept in a bit. She said that they were having the greatest time when she got up.

Grandma Lois said that they had a great time as well. As she would put it, "Braylon leaks a lot." Meaning he spits up frequently. She thinks maybe the flap that's supposed to close off the stomach is underdeveloped. We are going to talk to the pediatrician about it next week.

Atley, grandma's boxer, was very excited to see Braylon when he first arrived. Her whole body shook with excitement as it usually does when she has guests, but then she calmly nestled in and laid right next to wherever Braylon was for the remainder of the weekend. Grandma said that Atley doesn't usually bark or growl at little noises, but she did that weekend. She was protecting her baby. :)

John and I can't thank you three enough for taking care of Braylon for the weekend. We're glad you had such a wonderful time with him. We know he enjoyed his stay with you all as well!

Cabin Fever

August 29th through Sept 1st, we all went camping in Poudre Canyon. This time we were with my other grandparents. We stayed in a cabin with Grandma Lois. Grandpa Bob and Grandma Melody were in a cabin down the hill from us. They were in charge of all the cooking and boy was it yummy.

Uncle Jeff and Uncle Brandon camped down by the river in a tent. They sure do get a kick out of me. Uncle Brandon can't seem to get enough!

Aunt Christina and Uncle Dave had a cabin nearby as well. Aunt Christina was the dessert chef and she hit the sweet tooth hands down with all of her delectable treats.

Cabin camping is much easier for mommy and daddy when they have to take care of Baby Braylon. The biggest perk was the warm running water. Daddy and Grandma gave me a bath in the sink!

And when mommy and daddy had to get up with me in the middle of the night, we were in a warm room rather than a cold tent. Not quite as adventurous, but just a little more conducive to baby needs.

I got to meet so many family members during this trip. Daddy's cousin Tina married a very nice man named Johnny. They had a beautiful wedding in the woods, under an arch on the riverfront.

I was conked out :

It was so much fun getting to meet the family. Mommy and Daddy especially had fun spending time with everyone thanks to Grandma Lois spending a little extra time in the cabin with me. Thanks Grandma!!

Tenting It

Camping at the lake was fun. We had a great spot with lots of room. We were just off the shore. Although it was windy, it was a great view. Dad, grandpa, and grandma caught fish too!

Mommy and Daddy had fun too, but it might be a really long time before they take Bubbson tent camping again. Midnight feedings take on a whole new meaning when you're in a tent and it's freezing cold! We sure did enjoy the beauty that surrounded us though.

There were plenty of fun things to do too.

Playing in my jumperoo

Fishin with Grandpa

Giggling with Grandma

Daddy took me sightseeing

Mommy kept me bundled

And Uncle Andy kept the chipmunks away from me by feeding them peanuts. (Picture to come later).

Camping is great fun!

Playing Dress Up

We have managed to create mayhem and pandemonium in little Braylon's daily routine. We have been on three different vacations in three weeks and he is all out of whack because of it. Aug 24th through 27th Braylon went camping for the very first time. We all went to Turquoise Lake with Grandma and Grandpa Galloway, Uncle TJ, Uncle Andy, and Auntie Brittany. It was a fun time, but it was pretty chilly for most of the trip. We bundled Braylon up to the max.

Before we headed out, Mommy and Daddy played dress up with Braylon. At first, it was lots of fun!

But then...

... not so much!
I think maybe he likes being a monkey better than being a frog.
